How to create a wildlife-friendly garden

The forest garden in the Lower Courtyard at Dalby where we have been working last Autumn has many of these features. Of course we are especially lucky because we have a built-in water feature flowing right alongside! Can’t wait to watch it grow back in the spring.

Tour de Yorkshire

The Tour de Yorkshire route was announced today. We’re very excited to see that it passes through our lovely forest.

Assuming we can get a day off work, we hope to see you on the Cote de Dalby Forest!

Nothing like a brisk walk in Dalby…

There is no work task this month but if anyone would like to join Peter and Hillary, they will be doing the Dalby Beck Yellow Trail this coming Sunday morning 18.1.15. Setting off from the main Visitor Centre at 10 am – just meet at the entrance. The walk is 3 miles long and there are initially some steep slopes but the second half of the walk is flat.

Welcome to the new look website for the Friends of Dalby Forest!

Dalby is the Great Yorkshire forest situated within the beautiful North York Moors National Park, managed by the Forestry Commission (who are responsible for protecting and promoting the sustainable management of Dalby).

As a non-profit registered charity (1125882), the Friends of Dalby Forest  are a group of volunteers who meet regularly in the forest to enhance the facilities and settings for all visitors on a wide range of Forestry Commission-approved projects.

We meet up to carry out our tasks every month, just for a few hours in the fresh Dalby air. You are welcome to join us one day.
